It’s Shoe Box Time......The Comox Valley is once again excited to help bring joy and hope into the lives of thousands of hurting children around the world through gift – filled shoeboxes. 

Last year generous people from around the Comox Valley prepared and gave over 1500 shoe-boxes all in partnership with Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse now entering their 21st season.   What’s amazing is that over 100 million shoeboxes have been given during this time. 

We are pleased to announce that our 2013 shoebox campaign is now underway focusing on getting the word out to our community, to individuals, businesses, schools, churches and packing physical shoeboxes.    

Comox Pentecostal Church once again is the Local Collection Center where shoe boxes can be dropped off during the week of November 18^th – 24^th. 

Each gift-filled shoebox should contain a well-balanced variety of school supplies, toys, hygiene products, and a personal note and photo if you wish. The requested $7 donation for each shoebox is used to help cover the cost of international shipping and other project-related costs.

Introducing Our CPC Summer Student

Please Welcome our CPC Summer Student, Thomas de la Rey.  Thomas has been part of our youth ministry for the last almost three years.  We are happy to have him with us this summer serving with Pastor Johnny & Sandy Saunders primarily in our Next Gen Ministry. Bio: My name is Thomas de la Rey, I'm 19 years old.  I have one older brother and a very loving family. I just finished my first year of the Business program at North Island College, and plan on continuing to study here for the full 4 years!

 
Testimony: I was on a path destined for failure before I knew Christ. I was getting into the wrong things with the wrong crowd at school, and it looked like there was no hope. My parents were always upset about my lack of respect and a poor attitude and my bad grades were just the cherry on the cake of disappointment. Going to church was always a hassle for me, I would go because my parents asked me to, I was always counting down the minutes until it was time to go home. I don’t remember having a moment of epiphany where everything in my life just changed in an instant, but in time Christ radically changed my heart when I finally accepted Him as my Lord, Saviour, Friend and Father. My life changed more than I thought was possible, everything fell into place once I started attending church because I wanted to and not because I was nagged by parents. I am forever grateful that they didn't give up on me and continued to take me because having Jesus in my life is the best thing that's ever happened to me, and I have them to thank for introducing me to the King.

Hopes for Summer: My hopes for the Summer are to see tons of people come to Christ and to see existing relationships strengthened and secured. I hope to lead with courage, love, and understanding, being an example of Christs love for His people. I hope to meet a bunch of new people and to have a ton of fun during these coming 14 weeks here at Comox Pentecostal Church.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. ² They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, ³ but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. ⁴ While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. ⁵ In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them,

“Why do you look for the living among the dead?

⁶ He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ⁷ ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”

I want to encourage you and all our CPC family to pray for our leaders, starting right here at home in the Comox Valley. Our leaders whether they know it, believe it or not are in need of the generosity of your prayer. 

When you pray, you are making a difference, not only in their lives but also here in our community, our province, our nation and even nations.

There are many great reasons for our prayers. 

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thankgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. Prayer & Response for Hurricane Sandy’s Victims
Friday November 2, 2012

Please pray for the millions of victims affected by Hurricane Sandy in various regions, including Canada and the United States. Pray for comfort for those mourning the loss of loved ones, those facing the loss or severe damage of their homes, and those recovering from the trauma of the experience. Pray that aid and rescue workers will be able to reach those most in need of food, water, shelter and medical assistance, and that clean-up efforts will go smoothly.

ERDO’s partner, the Assemblies of God humanitarian relief organization Convoy of Hope, is conducting disaster response efforts in New York and New Jersey as millions of people continue to be affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Convoy of Hope says, “We’ve already distributed more than 150 tons of relief supplies including food, water, blankets and cleaning supplies in hard hit communities in New York’s Long Beach and Staten Island as well as Bayonne and Jersey City in New Jersey.” More supplies are en route from Convoy’s Centre in Springfield, Missouri. Working with local assemblies and church groups, by the end of the weekend Convoy of Hope expects to have distributed an additional 80,000 lbs of supplies.

Any funds received at the PAOC International Office will be forwarded to our ministry partner, Convoy of Hope.

Community Block Party

Attention families, parents, kids, teens, grandparents.....All ages. 

What do you think of when you hear the words carnival games, cool inflatables, free food, popcorn, snow cones and great prizes?    For many in the Comox Valley it means our Community Block Party is once again happening, Saturday June 9th, 1 - 4pm located at Comox Pentecostal Church (1919 Guthrie Rd, Comox).  Always a popular community celebration, generous volunteers are preparing and excited to welcome you to this free event.  Up to a 1000 people have attended in the past.

Some attractions this year include a 25’ Inflatable Bungee Run, Bouncy Castles, Carnival Games, Wacky Tricycles, Face Painting, Cup Cake Decorating, & much more.    We are excited to have a number of great community groups on site partnering with us again this year. Some include the Comox Fire Department, 4R’s Education, Highland Dancers, Car Seat Safety Techs, Boomers Legacy Riders, Comox Valley Christian School, RCMP Dare, Awana Canada (Grand Prix Race Track) & others. 

You can even get your photo with Fluffy the Ram.

Come stop by with your family for treats including free hotdogs, drinks and popcorn.  As well the Pregnancy Care Center will be onsite and giving away cotton candy.  For adults, a special coffee lounge will be set up for you to relax and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Over the years, this community party has had the generous support of many Comox Valley businesses and once again they are providing some great door prizes.  All you have to do is come by, put your name in for one of the many free draws.
